Frequently asked questions: Q: What do I get with my basic custom pet image order? A: We will produce an original digital painting of your pet, featuring his or her most noted character trait. As an example: you may tell us that your pet loves to play with tennis balls. We may then decide to draw your pet's head peeking out of the top of a pile of tennis balls. We will send you an email, (if address is provided) with a rough sketch showing our idea before we do any final painting. Once we finish the final color image, we will send you a small digital JPG file to keep. You can have photo prints made or send the image to friends and family, use it as wall paper on your computer, or keep it on your cell phone to show as you go! We will also send you an 8 x 10" print of the image, matted in a single white matt, ready for framing. An added bonus that is included with your order is the ability to be able to go to a "SHOP" link at any time to choose from a large selection of products that feature your new pet image on them. Items such as mugs, shirts, mousepads, greeting cards & more. You will be able to purchase these items at any time, as you choose, at your convenience and the "SHOP" link will remain active for as long as we are up and running! :)
Q: What is a digital painting? A: The digital process is as follows: We begin with a traditional pencil sketch, scan the sketch into a digital file on the computer, and then work with the sketch file as a base layer in Adobe Photoshop, using a hand-held stylus pen on a Wacom tablet. The tablet allows for moving the pen around for free movement, similar to actual painting or drawing. The result is a totally digital image that can be printed or sent via computer. No actual paint is involved, ever!! Much cleaner! :)
Q: What do I need to do if I want my to have my pet done? How do I order? A: You will need to fill out our online order form or print our PDF version. Fill out the order form, send it to us with your check or money order. Good News... We now accept payment online. Select your price package based on how many pets are included in an image. One pet = $125., Two pets = $160., Three to five pets in an image = $195. There are also special package "ADD-ON" items which cost $200. each, (this cost gets added onto the image cost if you choose to add any of these to your order). These "ADD-ON" items are not available on the "SHOP" page and are intended to offer additional, quality items for the customer who wants more than just the "SHOP" items. You DO NOT HAVE TO order these with your custom image order. They are simply meant to be an extra offer. These "ADD-ON" items include: A.) 200 greeting cards and envelopes. ("SHOP" cards are available in small quantities of 1 or 10 only). B.) Gallery-wrapped canvas - large 14 x 18". C.)Woven throw-blanket, Cotton 50 x 60". If you want to order any of these "ADD-ON" items at a later date, simply print out our order form and send payment, (including any shipping) specify on the form which item(s) you are ordering and please tell us which image you would like on the items.
Q: Can I still buy an item or product if I don't order a custom image of my pet? A: Yes, you can choose from any image on our "SHOP" page and select items from that pet's product page. Sometimes a breed will look just like your own pet and you won't have to order a custom image. Just place your product order directly from the "SHOP". You can choose framed prints, posters, greeting cards, mousepads, mugs, shirts & more. If you would like one of our 3 special "ADD-ON" items, just print-out our order form (CLICK HERE) and let us know what image and what item you want. Fill out the form and send it, along with your check or money order. (Sorry, no credit cards).
Q: What do I need to send you and how do I send it? A: When ordering a custom image from us, we need you to print out and fill-in our order form. Send check or money order for the total amount, including any shipping. And we also need a photo or two of your pet(s). The easiest way is to send us a JPG file via email if you can. Send to:info@petexpressionsart.com If you don't have the ability to send your photo via email, you can also print-out photos on regular bond paper, (no need for photo paper) and send it via regular mail to: Deystudio,LLC 2435 Hwy. 34, B-176, Manasquan, NJ 08736 Or you can send actual photos, (no more than 3 please) but please don't send us valuable original photos because we can NOT guarantee return of the photos.
Q: Do you guarantee your work? A: Yes, if we send you an initial sketch, (only if your email address is supplied) we will make as many changes to the sketch as it takes to make you happy. Once you tell us it is OK to go ahead with the final color art, we will begin the final. If we do not have your email address we will just proceed to final color art and you will only have ONE chance at any changes. We will send you a small JPG file of the color final image first before we print or set-up a "SHOP" page. If you do not have email access, we will mail you a small proofing printout. If you want to change something, we will do that for you "ONE TIME" on the final color image. If you absolutely do not like what we have done and even a change won't do, we will ask you to delete your small preview JPG and we will fully refund your payment. We may still decide to set up a "SHOP" page for that image, however if you order any items from the "SHOP" page which feature that image, we will take that as your approval of the image and we will require your payment for the original custom image. Once payment is received we would then send you your matted print.
Q: Why does the copyright ownership of the image remain with you? A: The pricing for this custom image is reasonable because we ask that you sign an "OK" for us to also use the image on our own line of greeting cards, etc. The copyright ownership needs to remain with us so that we can use the image on printed items for sale in our shop. Copyright never transfers over to someone buying a painting, traditional or digital unless it is in writing to do so. Most people hiring someone to paint a portrait do not realize this fact. The artist will remain the owner of rights to reproduce the image. You will be able to print out your image from the JPG file as much as you want for your own use, however you will not be able to reproduce it on items or greeting cards for resale at all without prior written agreement with us. The copyright for the image always remains with the artist. You will be supplied with a small digital JPG file and a matted, frameable, print from the image. We will also set up a "shop" catalog page that features your image on various items that are available for purchase at any time after your image is completed. We will supply you with the link to your personal shop page. There are various price packages that also include larger quantities of greeting cards, a gallery-wrapped canvas print, or woven throw blanket that can be added to your basic custom image order.
